I'm only posting one picture this morning because a) I'm too tired to find pictures and post them, and b) I'm too tired to really care. No offense.

You get home, you drink. [14 Aug 2005|10:09pm]

Back from Anaheim. Last night was amazing. The entire weekend was amazing. The whole last week was unbelievable. But that's beside the point.

Um, highlights from last night? I can't even think. So exhausted. This is what the sheet of paper I was writing the setlist on says:

8-13-05 Anaheim
Brown-Eyed Girl tease
Tell Me
She Says (stupid girl)
Crowded House
End of Our
Be Tere

So obviously his stomach looked nice. It was an awesome, amazing time. I'm not even going to try to explain it in detail because it wouldn't do the night justice. Let's just say it was probably one of the most magical and best nights of my life.

I'm drinking. And trying to catch up on email. And...word. I have pictures and video from both San Francisco and Anaheim but I have to find an easy way to get it off without buying that hella expensive cable to hook it up to my computer.

Drunken rambling.

Also, sorry to Kat for the drunk phone calls last night. You know, I was sober before we even got into the building. And drinks were fucking expensive, so I was sober the entire show. Fucking hell. :)

Edit: Though this is Howie related, most of you will find this story amusing. Anna Nalick and her band (and all her friends) were wearing hats for Anna's friend Jan, who has cancer. Apparently Tim, Anna's bassist, had been given the plastic mouse ears but refused to wear them and somehow, they got torn up. Anna tossed one of the ears into the crowd and guess who got it? Yep. Me. Then Anna talked about how she doesn't like to throw things into the crowd anymore because she hits people in the face. It made me laugh. So I have a mouse ear.

New Pics? [14 Aug 2005|11:40am]

[ mood | good ]

I hadn't seen these before, anyway. I was on a Tristan Prettyman message board and someone posted a link to pictures of her on this foreign site, so I decided to do a search for Howie. Several came up, none of which I'd seen before. They're thumbnails only, the full-sized pictures have watermarks on them, but they're still cool to see.

"In the morning, I have Cap'n Lobster Crunch..." [12 Aug 2005|08:56am]

Words cannot describe the insanity that was last night's show. Howie was tanked. And a hilarious drunk. I can't even think right now to write a full review because I've had about four hours of sleep and am at work and trying to not tell everyone how incredible the show was.

Perfect Time of Day
Sunday Morning Song
Numbness for Sound
Brace Yourself
She Says
Don't Dream It's Over
End of Our Days
Hey Jude (partial)
Be There
Collide (w/Missy Higgins)
Africa (partial)
You & A Promise

A few highlights:
* Jaime and Laurie walking by us while we were outside in line.
* Seeing Howie before the show in the balcony talking to someone.
* Seeing Matt Nathanson outside Howie's dressing room.
* Howie telling the fanthings to chill out because "You I'm going to fucking play Collide. When you have one hit song, you have to play it."
* "Swing into flight, over San Francisco at the Fillmore..."
* Howie singing about lobsters during She Says. (We vaguely remember it as "Why it's so funny that I've got a lobster..."
* "I eat Cap'n Lobster Crunch for breakfast. At lunch I have a lobster roll, obviously. With lots of butter. And for dinner, I have lobster again. With the bib with the picture of a lobster on it so you want to eat more."
* Howie going into Hey Jude for half a verse, then the crowd continuing the song until he decided to play it (best sing-along ever).
* "This is a cool crowd. That's because San Francisco is kind of an artisty place. I could live here...I'm just afraid of the shaking (starts shaking and wobbling around). I'm from Maine. We just freeze to death. I wish there would be an earthquake during a really intense part of the show. (crowd barely responds, then begins booing) Not a big one! I don't want the chandeliers to fall or anything bad to happen. (crowd continues heckling Howie) (to Jay) I guess that isn't something you should joke about here. (maniacal laughter)"
* "I have an alcoholic beverage here."
* "I remember my first beer."
* "They're all drinking water. I'm drinking vodka..."
* Howie climbing onto the amp at least three times.
* Howie jumping off the amp like a total rockstar.
* Howie kicking beer and water all over the fanthings. Accidentally.
* Longest version of Don't Dream It's Over.
* Tim interrupting Howie's ramble to start End of Our Days. "Tim says, 'Shut up, Howie!'"
* Howie being so distracted that he kept having to run to the mic or fumble around to get his capo on in time.
* Howie making the capo talk to us.
* Matt Nathanson in the balcony watching the show.
* Vance coming out to plug in Howie's guitar at the encore. "Give it up for Vance McNabb. (Vance flails and runs away) I can't even be trusted to plug in my own guitar."
* Rowdy insane You & A Promise.
* A guy screaming AFRICAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!! when they came out for the encore and Howie actually playing it.
* Howie trying to tune his guitar before Collide because "It has to sound good because this girl in front has been fucking requesting this song all night long."

I can't think of anything else right now. It was so madly, madly insane. Incredible show.

A couple of pictures.Collapse )

A question. [10 Aug 2005|05:08pm]

Does it skeeve anyone, even slightly, that Howie only plays two songs (give or take) off Australia? This is counting She Says and You & a Promise as SATWN tracks. It kind of irks me. I mean, I understand why. But it's just kind of...you know. A let down.

Sorry so sorry...til now... [10 Aug 2005|08:42am]

I was listening to Electric Factory this morning (I know, I totally caved) and in Sorry, when he gets kind of quiet and slow, he sings "And I'm sorry...so sorry...[something unintelligible]" For a long time, I thought he said "tonight." But listening to it this morning, it sounded like he said, "'til now." Which just makes the song more angsty and wonderful hehe

OT - EVERYONE: Spyware issue. YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION IS AT RISK! [10 Aug 2005|09:26am]

I was just sent an email at work about this CoolWebSearch spyware program that infects Internet Explorer and your computer. What it actually does is sends your personal login information from ANYTHING YOU DO ONLINE and sends it to a log file in this remote server (the log files contain chat information, eBay logins, YOUR HOME ADDRESS, BANK INFORMATION, LOGINS TO YOUR BANK IF YOU USE ONLINE BANKING!)

I have a website where you can delete this program, which can be found here.

To read up about the findings of this article, read about it here.

I'm just passing along information to keep you safe. Keep it going.

I'm crossposting this like it's going out of style. Sorry if you see this more than once.

I'm overdosing in you. [09 Aug 2005|08:51am]

Yesterday on the way to work I listened to a show with the full band. It wasn't what I really wanted to listen to, so on the way to work this morning, I decided to pop in a solo show. I have a show from 2000, then Electric Factory, and Shippensburg burned onto cds. I have listened to Electric Factory so much that I thought maybe I needed something different. And by different, I mean depressing. So I put in Shippensburg, which I have not been able to listen to since I downloaded it back in, you know, April. I've heard a few songs from the show and knew it was of excellent quality and that I would want to beat the guy yelling "AFRICAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!" senseless.

The best line I've heard from the show so far:

"Someone just yelled 'I love crack.' That's knowledge. Did you read that in a book?"
